Different Michigan counties have different rules about the relationship between the county Department of Human Services office and the county Private Social Services Agencies who partner with them in the provision of Foster Care and other services. Some county DHS offices allow full access to all results, reports, and other documentation, while others prefer to limit or more tightly control that access. In the past, Span’s had to review each individual a Private Agency information request in light of the rules and expectations of the particular county DHS office’s desires. That approach took time, and the potential for errors was too great.
Over the course of the last several months, Span senior staff worked with our programmers and operations crew to design new tools that help automate the data flow between and among Span, DHS and the Private Agencies. We are now happy to offer tools to our Private Agency customers that will allow them the same level of ad hoc access to their client’s data as do their DHS counterparts–even mobile access through their iPhone, or iPad.
Private Agencies are now able to refer their clients directly to Span, using their own form. Span then notes DHS approval of that transaction and begins reporting results and compliance information to both DHS and the Private Agency worker. Both DHS and the Agency Worker will have the ability to log into Span’s Cmost™ database to gather result and compliance information anytime they need it, whether from their office, their home, on the road, or in court.
